Window Wanderland is running in Shepton Mallet from March 5 to 8 and houses, businesses, shops and cars are invited to join in.
The idea is simple – help turn all of Shepton's windows into a magical night-time gallery. You can register your window online to form part of the magical trail.
Windows have started to take shape across Shepton Mallet. Mandy McKenna worked with local families during half term to create an apple blossom and bee window at Shepton Mallet Library.
Dozens of people turned out to help create the display which was designed by Mandy and then coloured by participants.
Mandy used a water-based black acrylic and PVA mix and then added tissue paper to create the effect. One participant said: "I love it – it really re-creates nature."
Artist Fiona Campbell will be creating a window display at the front of Tesco. Fiona gained a Masters in Fine Art at Bath Spa University in 2018 and she exhibits throughout UK and internationally.
Fiona will be creating a sculptural window that marks Tesco's community programme celebrating the store's dedication to championing local issues.
As part of the window Fiona is creating snowdrops from recycled Tesco bags and tissue paper to mark the store's involvement in the Snowdrop Festival.
The window will also feature illuminated books, bees (noting the donation of sugar for the honey bees campaign), knitting created by Knit and Chat and many other charities and organisations supported by the store.
Lots of Shepton Mallet shops and homes have registered their windows including: St Paul's Junior School who will be decorating all of the front windows in the school, Haskins who will be decorating the windows on the High Street, Mendip District Council have confirmed they will take part and, of course, the Anglo Trading Estate featuring windows by students from St Paul's and Field House care home designed with set designer Elly Wdowski.
There is also still a chance to take part in some of the community windows. Come along to the Art Bank on Saturday February 29 to work with artist in residence Dimitis Koutroumpas to create a stained-glass effect window and find out more about Window Wanderland.
Window Wanderland is being run by Make the Sunshine, the Art Bank and the Rubbish Art Project who are working together to light up windows across Shepton Mallet, bringing Window Wanderland, a national and now international movement, to the town.
This is a free community event open to anyone with a window in Shepton Mallet. Designs don't need to be arty, it is about having fun and connecting with your neighbours.
All you need to do is to register your windows is to click on the red button below - it takes just two minutes.
The Anglo Trading Estate windows will launch the event with a special opening being planned on Thursday March 5 at 7.30pm.
The Anglo Trading Estate windows will be lit thanks to sponsorship and support from Storm Productions Group. The event is being supported by Haskins and Pilton Cider.
Window Wanderland has been made possible thanks to support from Somerset County Council Improving Lives Fund, Wells Festival of Literature, Somerset Skills and Learning, and Mendip District Council.
