More than 1,200 young people have taken part in a consultation on the future of youth services across Shepton Mallet and nearby villages.
The research, led by Make the Sunshine CIC on behalf of Shepton Mallet Town Council and the Local Community Network (LCN), aims to identify gaps in youth provision and develop a new strategy. It follows concerns about limited opportunities for local young people.
The project focuses on those aged 10 to 19 — and up to 25 for young people with additional needs — and includes Evercreech, Pilton, Croscombe, Holcombe and Coleford.
So far, over 1,260 young people have shared their views through schools and youth groups, with 155 taking part in creative workshops. More than 60 organisations, including local schools, charities and public services, have also contributed.
Louise Lappin-Cook, Director at Make the Sunshine, said: "We've heard so many powerful ideas already — from young people wanting more safe spaces and creative opportunities to practical suggestions about how local parks could be improved. This is a real opportunity for the whole community to help shape what comes next. Your feedback will directly feed into future youth strategy in the area."
The consultation remains open until the end of November. Families, carers and local residents are being urged to take part.
Surveys are available via Make the Sunshine's website and take around five minutes to complete.

The work is funded by the Somerset Association of Local Councils.
