Understandably, the Council is very concerned with what it can do to assist with the Ukraine situation. A Council's finance is understandably restricted to benefit the residents of the parish it serves; however signposting is an easy way to provide support to those in need. If you would like to know how to offer support and don't know where to go, have a look on our website where we have signposted to the Government website.
Just click the link #standwithukraine. Shortly we will be putting the Ukrainian flag as a clicky link to make sure it doesn't get lost in the news as time passes. Last week was the final Full Council meeting before the elections. There will be a couple of committee meetings to keep things ticking over but work will start again in earnest in May. The Council also debated the importance of effective communication, a theme that ran through broadband providers to elected representatives. We will be looking to improve the communications that we receive and relay to make sure that it is the most relevant to the community of Shepton Mallet. Returning to the subject of elections, you are reminded to make sure you are registered to vote before the deadline of Thursday, 14 April. Those not on the electoral register should visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Would-be councillors have just one week left to put themselves forward. The deadline for nominations is 4pm on Tuesday, 5 April. For more information about the elections, including the Notice and who can stand, you can visit:
