Beacon lighting, live music, and more to honour the service of allied forces

Shepton Mallet is set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a special event at the Mid-Somerset Showground on 6th June.

The evening will be filled with activities to honour the tens of thousands of allied forces who served during the historic day.

The event, starting from 7pm, promises a memorable evening with a range of attractions:

  • Licensed Bar: Enjoy a selection of drinks as you take part in the commemorative activities.
  • Hog Roast: Savour delicious food with a traditional hog roast available throughout the evening.
  • Beacon Lighting: A symbolic beacon lighting ceremony will be held to honour those who served.
  • Live Music: Experience live performances that will set the tone for this reflective and celebratory event.

This special occasion offers free entry and on-site parking, making it accessible for all community members. No booking is required, so residents and visitors alike can join in easily.
