This Sunday, 10 November, Shepton Mallet will mark Remembrance Sunday with a series of commemorative events, including a service at The Cenotaph, a parade, and a church gathering, as the community pauses to honour those who sacrificed their lives for their country.

Residents are invited to gather at The Cenotaph in Shepton Mallet at 10.35am for the Act of Remembrance, which will begin at 10.45am, led by the Shepton Mallet British Legion.

This solemn ceremony will include a two-minute silence and a wreath-laying to remember servicemen and women from the British and Commonwealth armed forces who served in the World Wars, as well as in conflicts such as the Falklands War and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Following the ceremony, a parade will move through Shepton Mallet to St Peter and St Paul's Church, where a Remembrance service will commence at 11.20am. This church service will provide an additional opportunity for reflection and gratitude, uniting the community in respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Shepton Mallet's Remembrance Sunday events provide a poignant way for the town to come together, honouring fallen heroes and supporting the work of the Royal British Legion.
