Shepton Mallet is set to appear on BBC Escape to the Country after film crews visited Collett Park earlier this month.
The long-running BBC One property show follows prospective buyers looking to leave urban life behind and find homes in rural parts of the UK. A future episode is expected to feature Shepton Mallet, although a broadcast date has not yet been confirmed.
Shepton Mallet Town Council said the BBC had requested permission to film in Collett Park after the success of Collett Park Day. The council said the park's lake, historic bandstand and wide open fields offered a strong backdrop for the programme.
A spokesperson for Shepton Mallet Town Council said: "Following the huge success of Collett Park Day, we were thrilled to receive a request from a BBC producer seeking permission to film in our beautiful park for an upcoming episode of Escape to the Country.
"The filming took place this week, with its picturesque lake, historic bandstand and wide open fields, Collett Park offers a stunning backdrop and is a location we believe deserves to stand alongside Somerset's best-known filming destinations."
The council said it was also pleased to see Shepton Mallet Town Council tagged in a LinkedIn post by Mark Ford of Screen Somerset. The post highlighted locations being promoted at the Filming in England South West Industry Mixer at Bristol Beacon on Monday, 23 June.
Locations listed included Shepton Mallet Prison, Wookey Hole Caves, The Bishop's Palace and Wells Cathedral. The town council said it would like to see Collett Park added to that list in the future.
The spokesperson added: "Alongside our historic town centre, unique alleyways, heritage buildings and beautiful public spaces, Shepton Mallet has so much to offer film and television productions.
"Thank you to the BBC Somerset team for choosing Collett Park, and we look forward to welcoming more productions to Shepton Mallet."
Escape to the Country is currently in its 27th season and has featured rural locations across the UK, including Devon and Cornwall, Suffolk, East Riding of Yorkshire and South West Wales. In each episode, presenters show buyers a selection of properties chosen around their budget and wish list.
For Shepton Mallet, the filming adds another small-screen moment for a town already home to locations with strong heritage appeal, from the prison to its lanes, public spaces and historic town centre.
