A Shepton Mallet man has been handed a prison sentence of two years and eight months following a dramatic police raid at his home.
Aaron Cooper, 30, was convicted of possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply, along with possession of cocaine, at Bristol Crown Court this Tuesday.
The arrest occurred when firearms officers alongside patrol and Neighbourhood Policing teams executed a warrant at Cooper's residence. Cooper tried to escape as police entered but was quickly apprehended after a short foot chase.
During the search of his property, law enforcement officers uncovered hidden caches of cocaine and cannabis, as well as a large amount of cash.
PC Jamie Rule said: "This operation has resulted in a significant amount of illegal drugs being taken off the streets.
"Drugs have a significant and harmful impact on our communities and we want the public to know we will always take action to keep them safe.
"This prison sentence shows there are consequences for those who chose to engage in this illegal activity."
The Avon and Somerset Police are urging anyone with information about drug dealing or those seeking access to support services to come forward to help combat drug-related issues within the community.
