Shepton Mallet Lantern Parade was nothing short of a visual symphony, illuminating the heart of the town with its vibrant colours and creative brilliance.

The parade kicked off from the bandstand in Collett Park, a procession of homemade lanterns casting a warm glow on the faces of those taking part.

The creativity on display was breathtaking, with lanterns of all shapes and sizes bobbing through the streets towards the Market Cross. Each lantern told a story, a testament to the hours of dedication and imagination poured into their making.

Leading the parade was the stunning pangolin lantern crafted by the artist Mandy McKenna. The pangolin stretched over three metres, its willow frame radiating light through delicately placed paper.

Accompanying the visual spectacle was a feast for the ears, with Jamba de Samba and The Little Big Horns infusing the night with rhythmic beats and soulful melodies. Their music was the perfect soundtrack to the parade, adding an extra layer of joy and celebration to the evening.

As the night drew to a close and the last lanterns flickered out, it was clear that this year's Lantern Parade was not just a success; it was a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together to celebrate its collective spirit and artistic flair.
