A Shepton Mallet gym is reopening in newly refurbished premises this weekend.

For more than a year The Movement Gym has been operating from a temporary site, after thieves stole lead from the roof during lockdown, which caused major water leaks.

But now it can move back to its previous home at 7 Market Place (in the Amulet), but now with a fresh new look.

Manager Dawn Croxson said: "Our building needed a full renovation, including the walls, ceiling, roof and flooring.

"We are very excited that we can finally reopen in our newly renovated home!

"The whole gym has been renovated and decorated, and we have a new layout with new equipment, including some extra items in addition to those that we had before.

"We also now have a sunbed, and a protein and tanning shop.

"Our gym is suitable and welcoming to everyone of all fitness levels, ages, genders and experiences from first time gym goers to experienced body builders. We have showers and saunas which are free of charge for gym users, and we also offer additional services such as personal training."

To celebrate the reopening, an open day is being held on Saturday (October 29) to give people the chance to see the new facilities, and there will also be a DJ and the chance to enter a draw for free gym membership.
