Shepton Mallet crew tackles fire at building in East Pennard

Firefighters from Shepton Mallet were among those who tackled a fire at a building East Pennard last night (January 8).

Just after 7.45pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attended a building on fire in Cockmill Lane, East Pennard.

Fire appliances from Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary were mobilised to this incident. On arrival, crews confirmed one single-storey building alight.

Fire crews got to work with small tools, a triple extension ladder and a thermal imaging camera.

The fire was caused by fire embers from a chimney falling on to insulation, causing the timber frame to smoulder.
