Shepton Mallet could be getting a new 24-hour gym, and other planning news from in and around the town

A new 24-hour gym could be coming to Shepton Mallet.

Snap Fitness wants to take over the old Laura Ashley store at Townsend and convert it into a gym.

Snap Fitness gyms operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with member access via key cards. 

Currently, non-food retail outlets at Townsend are only allowed to open between 8am and 10pm so owners of the retail park, Nova, have submitted an application to Mendip District Council to vary condition 33 (opening hours - 08.00-22.00) of planning approval 118085/004 to 24hrs for Unit 4A only.
