Shepton Mallet carnival 2025: winners for all categories revealed

The 2025 edition of the Shepton Mallet Carnival has concluded, with a full slate of winners now confirmed across all competition classes.

At the top of the Feature Mounted (Open) class, Ramblers CC took first place with All Out, followed by Renegades CC's Emerald City and Masqueraders CC's Inventors (Tick, Tick, Boom!). Gremlins CC claimed fourth with Morning of the Dragon and Harlequin CC placed fifth with Ice Harvest.

In the Feature Mounted (Local) category, Mendip Vale CC impressed with Starlight, ahead of Globe CC's Jesters Haunt and Wick CC's Circus Town.

For the Tableaux Mounted (Open) class, Pentathlon CC earned top marks for Carnival of Shadows, while Wills CC's RMS Titanic and Oasis CC's Countrylife secured second and third places respectively.

In the Tableaux (Local) classification, Huckyduck CC took the spoils with Scarecrow Partea and King William CC followed with Welcome to the Black Parade.

Meanwhile, Newmarket CC triumphed in the Comic Feature class with Ghost Chickens, and the Juvenile Feature winner was Rubalo JCC with The Spirit of Christmas.

Group entries also stood out: Academy Of Carnival claimed top spot in the adult/mixed masqueraders category with One Short Day, and Sue Hill Dance won the juvenile group section with Conga Nation. In the mixed groups category ABC CC's Next! came first.

The Pairs class went to A&A CC for Diego and His Bucking Bronco, and the Single Masquerader adult title was awarded to Apollo CC for Dominus Temporis, with Just Ed's Cat In The Hat winning the juvenile equivalent.

The event, part of the West Country illuminated carnival tradition, lit up Shepton Mallet's town centre and attracted entries from across the region.
