Shepton Mallet is extending a warm invitation to its residents to either begin or continue their volunteer journey within the community.

The town recognises the invaluable contributions of volunteers and is eager to engage more citizens in the enriching experience of volunteering. To facilitate this, a special gathering for current and prospective volunteers is set for Thursday, 6th June 2024, at Create@#8 on Town Street from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm.

The event, co-hosted by Shepton Mallet Town Council, SMart, Make the Sunshine, and Flock, aims to celebrate the priceless efforts of volunteers who play a crucial role in supporting various town events and initiatives.

This friendly meet-up will offer free tea and cake as a gesture of gratitude and a casual setting for attendees to chat and connect. It's an ideal opportunity for new residents, newly retired, or simply looking for something different to engage with.

Various local groups and organisations will be present to share information about their activities. These include Make the Sunshine, Shepton Snowdrops, Shepton Walks, Windsor Hill Wood, and the Repair Cafe among others.

For those interested in making a positive impact in their community, this event will provide all the necessary information on how to get involved. Whether it's contributing to local festivals, community projects, or environmental efforts, there's something for everyone who wishes to lend a hand.

The organisers hope the session will not only thank current volunteers for their dedication but also inspire more residents to get involved, helping to sustain and grow the community-driven spirit that makes Shepton Mallet a special place to live.

For more information about volunteering opportunities or to RSVP for the event, residents are encouraged to visit the official Shepton Mallet Town Council website or contact Create@#8 directly.

Join your neighbours in making a difference—your community needs you!
