By Laura Linham 16th Dec 2022

Poppy appeal collectors have been touched by the generosity of people in the Shepton Mallet area, who donated more than £20,000 in this year's appeal.

The Shepton Mallet Royal British Legion has thanked the town and villages of Dean, Cranmore, Oakhill, Croscombe, Pilton and Doulting for helping to raise £21,332.53p to help current and past servicemen along with their families.

Andy Ransom, chairman of the Shepton Mallet Royal British Legion branch said they are 'so grateful' to people for the donations.

"We are so grateful to our supporters in our wonderful town and our outlying villages," he said. "Our final appeal total is the amazing total of £21,332.53p In these hard and uncertain times, the generosity of everyone is humbling.

"Thank you seems so little in return, we are so grateful."
