Victoria Grove in Shepton Mallet will be closed for one day in October as essential jetting works are carried out.

The closure, which will affect the stretch from the junction with Charlton Road for 240 metres northwards, is set to take place on Thursday, 10 October, from 8am to 5pm.

The works are being managed by Kier on behalf of Somerset Highways.

Somerset Council has enforced the closure under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, stating that the move is necessary for the safety of the public and to prevent serious damage to the road surface.

A public notice announcing the closure was issued on 19 September. Alternative routes for motorists can be found via the One.Network website. For closures scheduled more than two weeks in advance, free registration with the site is required.

For further details about the works, residents can contact Sunbelt Rentals on 0300 123 2224, quoting the reference number ttro928460E.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure and has thanked local residents and businesses for their patience during the disruption.
