Police are advising residents to stay alert following a spate of ride-on mower thefts in the Shepton Mallet area.

Police are advising residents to stay alert following a spate of ride-on mower thefts in the Shepton Mallet area.

Incidents have particularly surged in Frome and Shepton Mallet, according to Avon and Somerset Police.

A representative for the Mendip division of Avon and Somerset Police stated, "We're currently witnessing a notable increase in ride-on mower thefts in our area. Numerous cases have been reported across Frome, Shepton, and the broader East Somerset region.

"We encourage residents to be extra cautious."

They further advised homeowners to record the serial and model numbers of their equipment and to consider security marking their property.

The police emphasised the importance of these measures, stating, "By taking these precautions, you can significantly reduce the chances of these thefts and make it more difficult for perpetrators."
