Property Fire at Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet

Date: 30.06.2019Time: 16:32Location: Coombe Lane, Shepton MalletTwo fire appliances from Shepton Mallet and one from Frome were sent to a property with smoke issuing from the roof. The aerial ladder from Yeovil was also sent shortly afterwards. Due to the number of calls, the control room added a fourth appliance from Street.

On arrival crews stated smoke and flames issuing and requested the incident support unit from Yeovil to assist. Crews got to work with two main jets, two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus and short extension ladders to put the fire out.

At 1713 hrs, crews requested a further two appliances to assist. These were sent from Cheddar and Somerton. The incident command unit from Honiton was also sent.

Shortly after, the scene requested a further two appliances due to the incident escalation, with pumps attending from Yeovil and Trowbridge.

Crews made good progress extinguishing the fire with hose reel jets, main jets, ladders, the aerial ladder appliance and breathing apparatus sets. The British Red Cross Emergency Response team were also sent to the scene.

At 2015, two relief appliances from Castle Cary and Wells attended to take over at the scene, which was being scaled back.

At 2345 crews finally confirmed the fire out. It was involving a mid terraced property and two adjoining properties, sustaining serious damage. Crews left the scene with the cause of the fire undetermined, with the Police and fire investigation to return to the scene. These are the final details.
