Police crack down on off-road bikers after horse rider fall

Officers from the Frome and Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Policing teams responded to multiple reports of off-road bikes causing anti-social behaviour along the bridle paths in Asham Woods.
During one incident this weekend, a horse was spooked, leading to its rider falling. Fortunately, the rider did not suffer serious injuries.
Police worked alongside the drone unit to locate some of those involved. The riders were issued Section 59 warnings, meaning that if they are caught engaging in the same behaviour within 12 months, their bikes will be seized.
A police spokesperson said: "These off-road bikes are not only a nuisance but also pose a real danger to other people using the area. We will continue to take action against those responsible and urge the public to report any further incidents to us."
Asham Woods is a popular spot for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, and concerns about off-road biking have been raised in the past. Police are encouraging anyone with information about illegal off-road biking to get in touch.
