Plans to build a lorry workshop and garage opposite the Bath and West Showground, near Shepton Mallet, have been given the go-ahead.

A planning application for the building of a lorry workshop and detached garage with office space over at Wayside Farm House, on the A371 at Evercreech, was submitted to Mendip District Council by C Duck.

The workshop will be located to the north east of the site, which is an existing mixed-use enterprise including one house, with the garage to the south east.

In approving the proposals, the planning officer's report said: "The introduction of the proposed two buildings will enable the expansion of an existing enterprise in a rural setting which is of a manner and scale appropriate to its location.

"The impacts upon highways are mitigable through condition and the application has potential to improve ecological networks in a rural location."
