A pub in East Pennard could become housing, if new plans are given the go-ahead.

Mendip District Council has received an application to convert the Travellers Rest pub on the A37 into two houses – a three-bedroom and a two-bedroom.

The pub has been for sale since 2018, but there has been little interest, with prospective buyers citing lack of trade as a reason not to invest. The pub is currently open Friday to Sunday, but according to the application will be forced to close completely this year as the losses are mounting up.
