A planning appeal over the lack of a decision by Mendip District Council regarding a proposal for up to 10 homes to be built in Chilcompton, has been dismissed.

The appeal regarding an application for outline planning permission (all matters reserved) for the building of a residential development of up to 10 dwellings at Sestri, Broadway, Chilcompton, was lodged by Mr R Thorner.

He lodged the appeal against the failure of the council to determine the planning application, that was submitted on March 13 2020, by its target date of June 12 2020.

There was a provision of 30 per cent affordable housing in the proposals, along with education contributions.

There is already permission for up to seven homes on the site, but this appeal has now been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate who said that if 10 dwellings were built, then this would be an overdevelopment of the site.
