A planning appeal over the lack of a decision by Mendip District Council regarding a proposal for 13 homes to be built in Binegar, has been dismissed.

The appeal regarding an application for the residential development of 13 dwellings with ancillary works and meadow on land west of Flowerstone, Station Road, Binegar, was lodged by Mr R Thorner.

He lodged the appeal against the failure of the council to determine the planning application, that was submitted on March 4, by its target date of June 3.

The scheme comprised a one-bedroom unit, six two-bedroom units and six three-bedroom units. There was a provision of 30 per cent affordable housing, comprising in this case four affordable homes.

In 2016, an outline planning application for 17 homes on the site was refused, as was a subsequent application for 15 homes in 2018, and now this latest appeal has been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate.
