A plan to change the use of two holiday lets in Shepton Mallet so they could be used as residential homes instead, has been withdrawn.

A planning application to remove condition 3 (Holiday Use Restriction) of planning approval 2014/1744/FUL (construction of one six-bay garage with two self-contained holiday lets above) to residential use (C3) at Cannard's Grave Farmhouse, Cannards Grave, Shepton Mallet, had been submitted to Mendip District Council by Mr C Crockett.

The application wanted the condition restricting the use to holiday accommodation to be removed and the property allowed to be used as a residential dwelling, saying that Mendip District Council is unable to demonstrate that it has an up-to-date five-year housing land supply.

However, the condition will remain in place as the proposals have been withdrawn by the applicant.

Planning decisions in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 4 (external walling), 5 (joinery details), 6 (ducts pipes and rainwater goods) and condition 7 (drainage) on planning consent 2018/1849/FUL at Stable Cottage, Highcroft Lane, Gurney Slade, by Mr Glynn James has been approved.

Application for confirmation of compliance with conditions 1-9 on permission 2011/2077 (Variation of condition 2 of permission 2010/2180 to allow sample panel of stonework to be approved in accordance with an approved schedule of works, variation of conditions 3 and 4 of permission 2010/2180 to require works to be completed in accordance with submitted details, instead of prior to commencement of any works on site) at Ash Tree House, Chapel Row, Batcombe, has been withdrawn.

Application for confirmation of compliance with condition 1 (time limit) on permission 2018/3008/FUL (proposed demolition of a dwelling and the erection of seven dwellings including a re-positioned vehicular access) at Sestri, Broadway, Chilcompton, has been approved.
