Parents in Shepton Mallet urged to apply for school places as deadlines approach

Parents and carers in Shepton Mallet whose children are due to start or move schools in September 2025 are being reminded to submit their school applications on time to secure their preferred choice.

If your child is transferring to Secondary or Upper School, the application window is now open and will close on 31 October 2024. Parents and carers can apply online via the Somerset Council website:

For those with children starting school for the first time or moving to Junior or Middle School, applications open on 30 September 2024 and will close on 15 January 2025. More information is available here:

Cllr Heather Shearer, Lead Executive Member for Children, Families and Education at Somerset Council, said: "We encourage all parents in Shepton Mallet to make sure they submit their top three school choices before the deadline and include their catchment area school. Don't miss out – visit open days and make an informed choice for your child's future."

For children with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), the SEND Local Offer provides additional information about starting school or moving to a new one:

Before submitting applications, parents should consult the Somerset Primary and Secondary Admissions Guides, available on the council's website.
