Motorist cut from car after collision on A371

Local News by Laura Linham 4th Jan 2023

A motorist had to be cut free from a vehicle this morning after a serious collision on the A371, between the Natterjack Inn and The Pecking Mill Inn shortly before 8am.

Emergency services were called to the A371 at Arthurs Bridge in Evercreech. The road is closed and diversions have been put in place while emergency services attend the scene.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "One fire appliance from Castle Cary and one from Shepton Mallet were sent to a report of a road traffic collision, involving persons reported trapped, on the A371 near Ditcheat.

"Fire Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release one casualty. Police and ambulance also attended."

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said enquiries are ongoing.
