A school near Shepton Mallet is to receive a telescope for free thanks to the charity Scopes4SEN.

The Mendip School, which is based at the Bath and West Showground, will receive the telescope from the charity, which is the brainchild of Joanne and Patrick Poiteven and supported by sponsorship.

They started with the UK-wide project Scopes4SEN to give children with special educational needs and more vulnerable people, the chance to watch the Moon, planets and stars with their own telescope of their school or institute.

A telescope, binocular and plenty of educational materials is given free to schools and institutes.

If you would like to donate a telescope or any educational material, if you know a school or institute keen to have a telescope and educational material or if you would like to donate some funds to support postal costs, you can email [email protected].
