Mendip mourns theatre star Jonny Miller

Tributes have poured in after the death of Jonathan "Jonny" Miller, a much-loved performer who lit up stages across Glastonbury, Street and Wells.

Theatre groups from across the area have spoken of their heartbreak following his passing, remembering a man whose humour, warmth and infectious laugh left a huge mark on local audiences and fellow performers alike.

Glastonbury And Street Pottymouth Squad said members were devastated by the loss of their "friend and fellow Pottymouth", describing him as "an absolute star" who shone both on and off stage. The group said he was hugely popular with cast, crew and audiences, who year after year wanted him back in the spotlight.

They said he loved performing as Dandini and the magic mirror, and was able to truly be himself on stage, bringing laughter, mischief and what they called a touch of magic to every show.

Moorlight Theatre Productions also paid tribute, saying the world felt "a little dimmer" without him. In an emotional message, the company said Jonny brought joy, laughter and magic to everyone lucky enough to know him, whether on stage, behind the scenes or in everyday life.

The group said he would be remembered for his zesty personality, kind nature, wonderful sense of humour and his ability to light up a room and put people at ease.

Wells Little Theatre said it was sharing the news "with the heaviest of hearts", calling Jonathan a dear friend and treasured member of its theatre family. The company said he joined in 2017 for The Three Musketeers and went on to give memorable performances in Fiddler on the Roof, Aladdin, Zoom the Panto, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Cinderella.

His performance as Widow Twankey in Aladdin earned him the honour of Best Dame at the Cinderella awards - an achievement the theatre said was extraordinary for his first dame role.

But those paying tribute made clear Jonny's talents stretched well beyond acting. Wells Little Theatre said he also helped with props, front of house and the bar, while his background as a magician brought extra sparkle and creativity backstage.

Across every tribute, one thing rang loud and clear - Jonny Miller was adored. To friends, castmates and audiences, he was funny, kind, talented and impossible to forget.
