Can YOU help the Field to Food Learning Day Grow?

Founded in 1777, the Royal Bath & West Society is the oldest agricultural society in the country, with its core objective to promote the encouragement of agriculture, arts, manufacture, and rural crafts through education and knowledge transfer.

Since its inception, the Society has made remarkable contributions to the development of farming practices and has been an honourable platform in showcasing the latest technological advances in farming. Fast forward to today, and the Royal Bath & West Society is still actively promoting agriculture through a variety of different activities, including its Field to Food Learning Day, which is looking for support from businesses to help it grow.

The Field to Food Learning Day is an educational day where more than 1,200 Key Stage 2 pupils learn all about the process of field to fork through a variety of interactive activities and demonstrations. It provides the perfect opportunity for children to look, hear, smell and get their hands dirty – one of the most effective (and fun) ways to learn!

This year, Lilanie Self, Shows & Education Coordinator at the Royal Bath & West Society, received a record number of applications for the Field to Food Learning Day, from schools across Somerset, Dorset & Wiltshire.

As such, it is clear that there is a rising interest from schools to spend valuable time learning in engaging ways outside of the classroom.

The Royal Bath & West Society is looking for businesses who may be able to provide financial support to help the Field to Food Learning Day grow even bigger and better!

Lilanie Self says "Our Field to Food Learning Day is so popular among local schools. Whilst we were really pleased to be able to provide this FREE day out to 27 of schools in Somerset in 2023, we really want to do more. We would love to increase this to 40 schools for next year, but to do this we need some additional support."

"It is surprising the number of children who come to our Field to Food Learning Day think that the eggs they had for breakfast come from their local supermarket. It is really rewarding being able to show these children where their food comes from – we even give them the opportunity to make their own butter!"

"If you work for a business who you think would be the perfect match for our Field to Food Learning Day, we would love to hear from you. Support can start from as little as £1000, which can make a huge difference to the growth of our Field to Food Learning Day."

If you would like to support the Field to Food Learning Day 2024, which takes place on Wednesday 17 April, please get in touch with [email protected].
