Senior Development Technologist/NPD Technologist - Shepton Mallet

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's privately owned and established food manufacturers.

My client produces a wide range of high quality chilled products and works with multiple customers across wholesale, food service and the retailer sectors.

Reporting to the NPD Manager, along with the support of a strong technical team, this role offers the opportunity to work in a wide variety of product areas and will see you liaising closely with our Technical, Production, Sales, Accounts and Engineering teams, and directly with customers.

Senior Development/Senior NPD Technologist responsibilities:

  • Deputising for the NPD Manager
  • To host NPD meetings with internal/external stakeholders as required
  • To develop new products both proactively and in partnership with customers
  • To create and maintain excellent working relationships with our customers
  • Duties cover managing kitchen concept work, pilot plant trials and factory trials
  • To co-ordinate and support the NPD process from concept to launch on assigned projects
  • To ensure assigned projects are assessed to meet required food safety and quality parameters
  • To ensure required documentation is completed, transparent and provides due diligence
  • To liaise with suppliers regarding new ingredients to ensure they meet the customer and company policies
  • Artwork checking and approval ensuring legal requirements are met as required
  • To provide support on ingredient/product/process issues on live products
  • To aid on assigned Factory C.I. projects where required
  • To be familiar with competitor products
  • To be responsible for the development kitchen, ensuring ingredients and consumables stocks are maintained effectively and good standards of tidiness and hygiene are always achieved
  • To carry out any other job functions as requested by the Head of Development or other Senior Managers

Senior Development/Senior NPD Technologist key skills required:

  • Food Technology, Process technology or Food Science qualification (degree level or equivalent)
  • Team player but ability to work proactively on own initiative
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of product labelling
  • Knowledge of retail systems
  • Concept to launch development experience

Job specifics:

Permanent, full-time. Salary £34,000 to £38,000 per annum.

Technical Operative - Shepton Mallet

Our client based in Shepton Mallet are seeking a Technical Operative to join their team on a Permanent basis.

Technical Operative key responsibilities will include:

  • Able to be a point of referral on shift and support any area of production as required using extensive knowledge and skills of operating processes and equipment.
  • Monitor, support and provide technical expertise to team members to improve job knowledge and pass on information between shifts using shift hand-over systems.
  • Use experience to resolve technical issues and work with Engineers and/or Team Leader with routine/breakdown maintenance of equipment (within safety guidelines).
  • Undertake training and support the development of employees at Levels 1, 2 and 3 as required.
  • Use technical knowledge to suggest ideas for improvement opportunities. Lead continuous improvement projects and A3 problem solving activities.
  • Document all changes on quality management system.
  • To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.

Technical Operative requirements:

To be a successful candidate you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of all working processes, procedures, and equipment.

Technical Operative hours:

Two-week work pattern working Sunday to Thursday/Monday to Friday from 9.45pm to 6.15am.

Job specifics:

Permanent, full-time. Salary £28,600 per annum.

Dairy Production Operatives - Ditcheat

Production Operative opportunities in Ditcheat - ongoing vacancies.

About the roles:

  • The roles will involve day-to-day curd turning (manual) and the bagging, sealing and boxing of cheese.
  • The roles are physically demanding and therefore candidates must be able to cope with these demands.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, 5.45am to 2.15pm/1.45pm to 10.15pm (rotating shifts one week days and then one week afternoons).
