House prices rise by smallest increase on record

The average asking price for a UK home rose by just £14 in February, according to the property website Rightmove - the lowest increase since its records began in 2001.

According to its website, Shepton Mallet had an overall average price of £233,490 over the last year.

The majority of sales in Shepton Mallet during the last year were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £241,061. Flats sold for an average of £135,792, with semi-detached properties fetching £255,661.

Overall, sold prices in Shepton Mallet over the last year were similar to the previous year and 3% up on the 2020 peak of £227,658.

According to Rightmove - the average asking price for a home across the UK is now £362,452.
