Heathland Fire. at Compton Bishop, Axbridge.

Date: 28.02.2019Time: 19:50Location: Compton Bishop, Axbridge.The Fire Service were called to reports of a heathland fire at the above location. Fire control mobilised one fire appliance from Cheddar, one fire appliance from Winscombe, one 4 by 4 pumping vehicle from Burnham-on-Sea and the water carrier from Bridgwater.

Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charger requested the attendance of one light response pump and one additional 4 by 4 pumping vehicle from Wells and a special customised off road rough terrain vehicle called a pinzgaur from Ilminster.

The crew got to work immediately to extinguish the fire with the use of 8 beaters however this was made difficulty for the firefighters due to limited access to the affected area.

The crew fully extinguished the fire involving gorse and made the area safe. This incident is now complete and all crews have returned to home station.

The Fire Service were called to reports of a heathland fire at the above location. Fire Control mobilised both fire appliances and 4 by 4 pumping vehicle from Minehead and the water carrier from Bridgwater.
