GWR Pannier Tank 5786 to make surprise appearance at the East Somerset Railway

The East Somerset Railway at Cranmore will be welcoming a visitor over this Bank Holiday weekend.

GWR Pannier Tank 5786 is travelling to Somerset from the South Devon Railway as part of a swap with ESR regular, Small Prairie 4555, which has been loaned to the Buckfastleigh-Totnes railway for the weekend so that it can take part in the railway's 150th anniversary celebration.

5786 will be hauling the scheduled services from Cranmore Station at 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm and 3.30pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The tank engine was built in 1930 and is currently painted in London Transport Livery.

Train tickets can be purchased online at www.eastsomersetrailway.com or just turn up on the day. Day Rover tickets cost £11 adult, £9 child, £10 concessions, 2 Adult 2 children family £34 and 1 Adult 2 children family £25. On Bank Holiday Monday additional DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) trains will run at 11.45 and 14.45.
