Shepton Mallet Town Council is inviting local organisations and community groups to apply for its community grants scheme, which is open until 13th May. This initiative is designed to support local projects that benefit the residents and enhance the community spirit of Shepton Mallet.

The grant scheme is open to various applicants, including properly formed groups, clubs, committees, or charities. Applicants are required to demonstrate that their group has charitable or community aims which will directly benefit the people of Shepton Mallet.

The Town Council is offering three types of grants to cater to different needs and project scales:

  • One-Off Small Grants: These are for revenue expenses ranging from £1 to £500, intended for specific projects.
  • One-Off Large Grants: Available for both revenue and capital expenses from £501 to £2000, these grants can support larger initiatives.
  • Strategic Grants: These are awarded in exceptional circumstances for projects where the council will provide funding for more than one year, supported with a Service Level Agreement (SLA). Strategic Grants are aimed at services or organisations deemed critical to the wellbeing of Shepton Mallet.

The community grants scheme is an excellent opportunity for local organisations looking to launch new projects or continue providing valuable services to the community. It also offers the possibility of matched funding, increasing the potential financial support for eligible projects.

To apply for a grant, organisations should fill in the application form available on the Shepton Mallet Town Council website at https://sheptonmallet-tc.gov.uk/community-grants/.
