Fire crews rescue person trapped after lorry hit a wall

Emergency services were called to Garston Street in Shepton Mallet this morning (Thursday, October 6) after a lorry hit a wall.

Police and ambulance were called to reports that a lorry had hit a wall shortly after 8.20am. A person was trapped inside the lorry, so the ambulance crews alerted the fire service, and two fire appliances from Shepton Mallet and Wells and a Heavy rescue vehicle and support pump from Glastonbury, went to the scene of the accident.

Fire crews used stabilisation equipment and a heavy rescue platform to release the trapped person, who was then treated by ambulance paramedics.
