The Patient Participation Group (PPG) at Grove House Surgery has set up an exercise class at Pullen Court in Shepton Mallet.

The class is held on Tuesdays at 1.30pm in the Pullen Court Community Room. It is open to the residents of Pullen Court, their friends and family and the local community.

Jo Smith of Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) and also a PPG member said: "The class is mainly chair based with some balance work - all helping to improve strength, mobility and flexibility.

"These exercises can help people to be more independent in their own homes, and in everyday life generally."

Qualified instructor Lee Rogan takes the sessions, and there is time for tea and coffee, and a chat afterwards.

Chairman of the Patient Group Tony Blaker said: "Three of our members, Jo Smith, Ruth Green and Liz Farmer did all the ground work in getting this initiative started.

"We would like to thank them, and also thank Aster for supporting this and introducing us to their lovely residents.

"Finally we would like to thank Rich Watts and his company 3 Solutions Limited who have sponsored the classes and enabled us to get it off the ground. We are pleased that we already have a group of regular attendees, but there is room for more."

Anyone interested in attending, or just wishing to find out more, should contact Jo Smith of SASP on 07855 283855 or email [email protected].
