There will be a by-election on Wednesday September 8 to elect a town councillor for the Shepton Mallet East Ward.
The notice of election was published on Mendip District Council's website on August 3 here:

To book an appointment to deliver your nomination papers, email [email protected]. At the request of Shepton Mallet Town Council, no polling cards will be issued for this election. Postal vote ballot packs will be issued, and these will be sent in the usual way. To have your say, electors must register to vote by August 20 here: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote The deadline for new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or postal proxy votes, is 5pm on August 23. And the deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies) is 5pm on August 31. The election itself will take place on Wednesday September 8 from 7am to 10pm.
