Dave Crisfield re-elected as Shepton Mallet Town Council Chair in shake-up of committee roles

Dave Crisfield has been re-elected as Chair of Shepton Mallet Town Council, securing the top spot for a second year running at the council's annual meeting last week.

Councillors also confirmed new leadership across the council's main committees, with a mix of familiar names and new pairings stepping into senior roles.

Garfield Kennedy was appointed Chair of the Recreation, Amenities & Environment Committee, with Matt Harrison as Vice Chair. They'll be joined by Jane Nicklin, Kai-Thomas Roth, Gavin Mayall, Janet Reilly, Abi McGuire and Edric Hobbs.

Jane Nicklin takes over as Chair of the Town Development and Planning Committee, with Tom Makin as Vice Chair. Other members include Matt Harrison, Garfield Kennedy and James Brittan.

On the Arts, Culture, Communities & Tourism Committee, Jon Ducker has taken the Chair role, supported by Vice Chair James Brittain. Also on the committee are Garfield Kennedy, Dave Crisfield, Rob Heaton and Gavin Mayall.

Gavin Mayall now chairs the Policy & Resources Committee, with Janet Reilly as Vice Chair. Members include Garfield Kennedy, Jane Nicklin, Jon Ducker, Dave Crisfield and Matt Harrison.

Finally, the Human Resources Committee will be chaired by Janet Reilly, with Gavin Mayall as Vice Chair. Joining them are Garfield Kennedy, Edric Hobbs, Dave Crisfield and Matt Harrison.

The appointments come as the council prepares for another year of local projects, planning decisions and community work across Shepton.
