Collett Park Day is back this weekend!

This Saturday (June 11) is Collett Park Day.
After a two-year hiatus due to Covid – the popular free community event is back this year, and it looks set to better than ever before.
The event will see the town's Collett Park transformed into a celebration of all things Shepton, with stalls from the town's businesses and organisations and live entertainment including music, majorettes, hula hooping, gymnastics displays, foot darts, a bouncy castle and an inflatable assault course.
The annual celebration is held in honour of John Kyte Collett. As a young boy he was forcibly removed from a Langhorne Park, a private estate, after he was discovered playing there. In later in life, when he had become a successful local trader, he made good on his promise to provide a public space in the town. When Langhorne Park was put up for auction in 1900, John Collett bought the fields and turned them into an 11-acre community park – Collett Park.
