As the highly anticipated 'Circus in the Park' event took centre stage, Collett Park was transformed into a circus wonderland yesterday. Organised by Shepton Mallet Town Council, the free event attracted a large crowd eager to soak up the circus magic.

The day kicked off with tightrope workshops, where attendees were guided through the delicate art of balance and poise. Later, the focus shifted skyward as aerial acrobatics workshops offered participants a thrilling introduction to airborne stunts.

However, the excitement was dampened as the weather took a turn for the worse. Despite hopes that the rain would clear, organisers were forced to cancel the afternoon circus performance.

"Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel the circus performance this afternoon. We had hoped the rain would blow over, but that's not been the case," organisers said in a statement.

Despite the disappointment, the event was still hailed as a success. "Thank you to everyone who came today and made it a success before the rain came," organisers added.

The 'Circus in the Park' event once again highlighted the community spirit in Shepton Mallet, bringing residents together for a day of fun and entertainment, even as the weather presented its challenges.
