Armed police and aerial support units called to an incident in Croscombe on Tuesday evening and seized multiple weapons, police have confirmed.

The incident, which initially began with a motorist reporting a gun in Croscombe, escalated quickly, leading to the discovery and seizure of multiple weapons.

At around 6pm, authorities were alerted to a lorry driver being threatened by another motorist on Shepton Old Road, in Croscombe.

Armed officers, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and a drone unit, responded to the situation.

By approximately 7.10pm, police had located a man in the Rowdens Road area.

A subsequent search of the man's vehicle and caravan led to the seizure of several items, including air weapons, a bow and arrow, a catapult, and a machete.

In a statement, the police said: "A 58-year-old man has been arrested after a man was threatened in Wells on 23 April. Officers were called at around 6pm to Shepton Old Road, in Croscombe, following a report of a lorry driver being threatened by the driver of another vehicle.

"Due to the nature of the threats, armed officers were deployed and were supported by the National Police Air Service and drone unit to locate the offender."

"The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and he remains in police custody."
