Shepton Mallet will host BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time next month, with a recording taking place at Kilver Court on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

Doors open at 5pm, with the recording starting at 6pm. The event is part of the Shepton Snowdrop Festival and features a panel of expert gardeners, including Anne Swithinbank, Matthew Wilson, and Pippa Greenwood, chaired by Peter Gibbs.

The popular programme, which attracts two million listeners weekly, has been a staple of Radio 4 since 1947. Known for its spontaneous answers to gardening queries, the panel takes on questions from the audience without seeing them beforehand, showcasing their vast horticultural expertise.

Amanda Hirst, Director of the Shepton Snowdrop Festival, expressed her excitement about the collaboration. She said:

"We're thrilled to be hosting such an iconic gardening programme in Shepton Mallet. The story of Kilver Court Gardens and Shepton's unique connection to snowdrops through James Allen, widely known at one time as the Snowdrop King, is a perfect backdrop to the programme. The Festival is very grateful to Kilver Court for their sponsorship and support in helping to make this happen for Shepton Mallet."

Tickets for the event are priced at £4.50, with details and booking available on the Shepton Snowdrops website.

This unique opportunity highlights Shepton Mallet's rich gardening heritage and offers residents a chance to put their questions to some of the UK's leading gardening experts.
