A housebuilder with developments across Somerset donated over £44,000 to charities in the South West last year.

Each year, Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, donates funds to charities and organisations across the region as part of its commitment to create positive legacies in the communities where it builds.

Amongst those that received help from the housebuilder over the past 12 months includes Somerset Community Foundation which supports communities through the cost of living crisis. The Shepton Mallet-based charity received a £1,500 donation to help those most in need, particularly those living in fuel poverty.

Laura Blake, philanthropy director at Somerset Community Foundation, said: "The money we received from Barratt David Wilson Homes South West boosted our Cost-of-Living Crisis Appeal which will support local people who are living in poverty. Funds will be used to provide grants to a wide range of local charities that work with those who are hardest hit by the cost-of-living crisis, such as Citizens Advice, homelessness organisations, food banks and charities supporting older people and those with disabilities. It also helped to fund 'warm spaces' across the county where people can connect with others and access additional support."

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: "We are proud to have supported so many charities over the past year. They all work tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need and we hope our donations will allow them to continue to support as many people as possible. We look forward to continuing with our charity initiatives throughout 2023."

Every month, each Barratt David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,500 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.

Among developments Barratt David Wilson Homes is building Delamare Park in Frome.
