Arthur Brown to play Shepton Mallet festival
By Laura Linham 18th May 2026
Music legend Arthur Brown is coming to Shepton Mallet this summer.
The performer, famously known as the "god of hellfire", will appear at the Art Bank as part of the new Shepton Mallet Midsummer Festival.
The festival will run across the town from Thursday, 18 June to Sunday, 28 June.
Brown is best known for his 1968 hit Fire and his theatrical live performances, which helped make him one of the most distinctive figures in British rock music.
His appearance is one of the headline events in the new ten-day festival programme.
The event is being organised by Let's Buy The Amulet alongside local venues and promoters.
Organisers say the festival will include a mix of free and ticketed events across multiple venues in Shepton Mallet.
The programme also features jazz and an outdoor ceilidh in the Market Place, punk gigs in the Victoria Inn garden, folk and indie music shows, spoken word performances and community art activities.
The festival will close with the Prison Yard Party on Sunday, 28 June.
Tickets are available online and from the festival stand at the Sunday Market.
Local groups and venues are also being invited to take part in the wider town festival programme.
