Outreach sessions offer support to forces families
By Teri Underwood 1st Oct 2026
Veterans, serving personnel and armed forces families in Glastonbury are being invited to meet support workers over a free cuppa at St Dunstan's House. The next outreach session takes place on Wednesday, 11 November, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
The sessions will be held in the atrium at the Magdalene Street venue, with dates announced through to May 2027. They are open to veterans, serving members, reservists, family members and dependants.
NHS Somerset-funded Armed Forces Link Workers will be available to listen and connect people with practical help and advice. The sessions also offer an opportunity to meet others from the armed forces community, whether visitors have a particular issue to discuss or simply want some company.
The invitation describes the offer as: "Free brew. Good company. Useful support."
It adds: "Whether you'd just like to meet like-minded people or need specific help with life's challenges, our NHS Somerset-funded Armed Forces Link Workers are here to listen and connect you to practical help and advice."
NHS Somerset says its armed forces team supports people with issues affecting daily life, including healthcare, education and housing. Its outreach service brings together link workers and other agencies to help people find the support relevant to their circumstances.
After the November session, the next Glastonbury date is Wednesday, 16 December. Further sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays, 20 January, 10 March, 14 April and 26 May 2027, all running from 1 pm to 3 pm at St Dunstan's House.
People seeking support between sessions can contact Mendip Armed Forces Link Worker Louis Bowden on 07523 819106 or at [email protected]. Further information about the service is available on the NHS Somerset armed forces webpage.
