Almost 99% of Somerset children offered top three primary school choices
Somerset Council's latest school admission figures have revealed that nearly 99% of the youngest children in Somerset were offered a place at one of their top three primary school choices.
Out of the 5,182 applications received this year, 98.94% received a place at one of their top three choices, with 94.54% of applicants receiving their first choice.
Of the 5,182 primary school applications received this year, 4,899 applicants received their first choice (94.54%), 201 received their second choice (3.88%), and 27 received their third choice (0.52%).
Families who applied for a place online can expect to receive their offer by email on April 17th, while those who made an application by post will receive a letter this week. The Schools Admissions Team is asking families not to contact their allocated school, as schools will be in touch with families to discuss arrangements shortly.
For families who were not offered one of their top three choices, there is an option to appeal the decision. Details about the appeal process will be included in the email or letter received by families.
Last year, 5,296 applications were received, with 98.62% of applicants receiving one of their top three preferences and 93.4% receiving their first primary school preference.
