Shepton Mallet's festival, All the World’s Our Playground, returns July 19-20 with street theatre, circus acts, and workshops.

Shepton Mallet's family-friendly festival All the World's Our Playground is back this weekend, bringing two days of street theatre, circus and creativity to the town centre and beyond.

Now in its sixth year, the free community festival is programmed by local young people and promises a packed line-up of performances, workshops and pop-up events for all ages on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.

Saturday is the main event, with activities starting from 11.30am in the town centre. Highlights include:

  • Gravity Unbound by Cirque de Silk's under-18 aerial company
  • The Giant Balloon Show by Dizzy O Dare – a comic, high-energy spectacle with a balloon the size of a small car
  • Get Lost, a playful dance adventure from Joe Garbett Dance
  • Harvey Juggling, one of Covent Garden's youngest and most daring performers
  • The Sambistas, bringing foot-stomping samba to Market Place

The full Saturday programme includes:

  • 11:30am – Gravity Unbound
  • 12:30pm – The Giant Balloon Show
  • 1:00pm – Get Lost
  • 1:30pm – The Sambistas
  • 2:00pm – Harvey Juggling
  • 2:30pm – The Sambistas
  • 3:00pm – The Giant Balloon Show
  • 3:30pm – Get Lost

There will also be aerial workshops, crafts at Create8, short films, and the new Playground Showcase, giving local young performers a chance to take the spotlight.

On Sunday at 11.30am, international hula hoop duo Clap Clap Circo BORSKA take over Market Place with a comic circus performance full of physical theatre, hoops, and old-school clowning.

Festival organisers say the event is all about "letting children's creativity and imagination take over the town". All performances and activities are free.

Events take place across Shepton Mallet, including the town centre, The Art Bank, Create8 and The Amulet.
