Shepton Mallet is gearing up for a weekend full of exciting events, with the newsletter and article sponsored by the Bath and West Showground.

Shepton Mallet High Street is preparing for a festive highlight with its Christmas Tree light switch-on event, scheduled for 1st December from 5pm to 8pm. The evening promises a wonderful mix of attractions for all ages, including a vibrant night market, children's workshops, and a Santa's grotto. The highlight of the event will be the kids' Christmas card competition, with the winner having the honour of turning on the Christmas Tree lights at 6pm. Visitors can enjoy performances from local bands, a range of food options like a hog roast from Denelas Bakery, and craft workshops. With free parking available at Great Ostry car park, the event is set to be an accessible and joyous start to the festive season in Shepton Mallet.

At the Bath and West Showground, the weekend begins with a Murder Mystery Dinner Party titled "Who Killed Ebenezer Scrooge?" on Friday, 1st December, at the Bath & West Showground. This unique event combines a dinner with a festive-themed mystery. More details are available here.

On Saturday, 2nd December, the community is invited to participate in a willow reindeer-making workshop. This creative and festive session promises a fun experience, with more information here.

Also on Saturday, thrill-seekers can join the Charity Santa Abseil at Cheddar Gorge in aid of St Margaret's Hospice. The event offers a unique way to support a local cause while enjoying breathtaking views. Find out more here.
