The Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday (Saturday February 1) with a parade of more than 120 hand-made lanterns.

In perfect weather and clear skies, the celebrations in Collett Park were led by a new lantern, the Great Shepton Ram, designed and made by Mandy McKenna.

With music from Jamma de Samba band and cider from Alan Stone, the night was hailed as a resounding success.

The organisers would like to thank all the stewards who volunteered to help with the event, and main sponsors British Solar Renewables, Charlie Bigham's, Glastonbury Festivals and Shepton Mallet Town Council.
