Green light given to the Mendip School in Prestleigh to build swimming pool

A planning application to build a swimming pool at the Mendip School in Prestleigh has been given the go-ahead.

The application for the erection of a swimming pool at the Mendip School, Edmund Rack Road, Prestleigh, by Emily Massey has been approved by Mendip District Council.

The pool is intended as a facility for the pupils of the special school on the Bath and West Showground site, and will cater for a maximum of two classes at any one time, with 12 pupils per class.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Proposed demolition of existing agricultural buildings, erection of a new 3 bedroom dwelling with associated outbuilding on a plot adjacent to the Second Barn, Prestleigh Lane, Prestleigh, has been applied for by Ms M Underwood.

Application to vary condition 2 (drawings) of planning approval 2018/2972/FUL (Demolition of existing house and garage building, erection of new dwelling, garage and improvements to accesses, Amended Drawings) at Highgate House, Thrupe Lane, Croscombe, has been made by Mr and Mrs A Lewis.

Extension and refurbishment of existing building, replacement of external cladding, upgrade of flat roof to improve thermal performance and provision of new canopy at the County First School, Leigh Street, Leigh-on-Mendip, is wanted by the Board of Governors.

Erection of a 2 storey rear extension and loft conversion forming gable end and roof alterations for full dormer to the rear of 1 Croft Road, Holcombe, has been applied for by Mr Gary Schuster.

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for a dwellinghouse (Use Class C3) at Two Oaks, Underhill Lane, Ston Easton, has been made by Mr and Mrs Leggett.

Two storey extension to the north west of dwelling, erection of a detached double garage and relocation of vehicular access at Orchard Barn, Upper Benter to Stockhill, Chilcompton, is wanted by Mr and Mrs Miles and Tina Hadrill.

Erection of extension to dwelling at Home Farm Office, Kennel Lane, East Pennard, has been applied for by Mr Martin Llewellyn.

Alterations to the existing house, use of historic dairy as a holiday let, change of use of the sheep barn from agricultural use to allow holiday let use at Little Oakhill, Brewery Lane, Oakhill, are wanted by Mr Neal Hendey.

Five Day Notice - T1 and T2 - Ash - Fell. (TPO M1109) at The Oasis, Brewery Lane, Holcombe, has been made by Mr Alan Tibbs.

Approval of details reserved by conditions 6 (railings) on planning consent 2015/2831/FUL at Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Top Street, Pilton, has been applied for by Mr Philip Eavis.

Erection of an agricultural barn on land at Thrupe Lane, Masbury, is wanted by Mr and Mrs N Moss.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area - T3 - Oak - Fell at Pennard House, Church Lane, East Pennard, have been applied for by Mr Harry Dearden.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Removal of existing garage, erection of two sheds and creation of graveled parking area at 14 Crane Cottages, Piers Road to Turnpike Lane, Cranmore, by Mr Ryan Peacock has been approved.

Single storey rear extension to replace existing conservatory at 89 Finch Close, Shepton Mallet, by Miss Alex Thorne has been approved.

Proposed single storey extension at 1 The Parlour, Huxham Farm Road, East Pennard, by Mr Derek Haldane has been approved.

Remove existing rear flat roof and replace with a pitched roof at 12 Enfield Road, Evercreech, by Mr and Mrs M Lewis has been approved.

Variation of condition 25 (hours of use) of permission 120690/000 (Erection of crematorium and creation of parking areas, access, landscaping including creation of mounds and change of use of surrounding land and ancillary uses associated with the crematorium) at Mendip Crematorium, Old Wells Road, Croscombe, has been approved.

Proposed 2 storey side extension and conversion of existing garage at 14 Roman Way, Coleford, by Mr Michael Harry has been approved.

Two storey extension and single storey link to garage at Gales Court Bungalow, Bath Road access to Sewerage Works, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, by Mr Vincent Cannella has been approved.

Replacement of mono pitch roof and replacement of single storey side extension at Bridge View, Bath Road access to Sewerage Works, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, by Mrs Claire Selway has been approved.

Erection of fence and gated access at Tandridge, Broadway, Chilcompton, by Mr Michael Morgan has been approved.

Proposed internal non illuminated sign (deemed consent) and non illuminated timber hanging sign on pole in the car park at Pilton Parish Hall, St Mary's Lane, Pilton, by Mr S Finlay has been approved.

Retrospective application for erection of a porch at 13 Westfield, Shepton Mallet, by Mr N Watson has been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by condition 5 (wildlife protection and enhancement) on listed building consent 2019/0963/LBC at Greenscombe Farm, Creech Hill Road, Milton Clevedon, by Max Wigram has been approved. Also approved is an application for approval of details reserved by condition 4 (Wildlife Protection and Enhancement) on planning consent 2019/0962/FUL at the same address.
